At 39, Anjem Choudary should be a symbol of success for his peers. Born into the working-class family of a market trader in Welling on the outskirts of London, he has risen – thanks to the opportunities offered by the British education system – to become a qualified lawyer.

But it is unlikely his old school will be inviting him to be guest speaker on prize-giving day. Their former pupil is not famous for his elegant oratory in court.

Instead, the articulate Mr Choudary preaches hatred and murder in the streets of Britain to the next generation of young, impressionable Muslims.

via The unholy past of the Muslim cleric demanding the Pope’s execution| News | This is London.

We must protect our society from people like this:

He doesn’t represent true Muslims, the overwhelming majority of whom are law-abiding, hard-working people who have no interest in his extreme views.

He mustn’t be allowed to hide his illegal and odious activities under the guise of ‘freedom of speech’ when the nightmare version of Britain that he would like to see would remove our cherished right.

His complete disrespect for the memories – and the families of – those brave men and women who gave their lives to defend the very principles that he is now twisting and perverting to support his campaign of hate.

The authorities must act to ban his organisation and similar ones that do nothing but undermine community relations here in the UK and support the radicalisation of large numbers of young, disaffected men who may live here, but simply do not love our country.

This is not a simple issue about Freedom of Speech, but one about the protection of values that we hold dear in this country, the loss of which would change Britain for the worst.

The threatened march in Wootton Bassett must be stopped at all costs.
